The Canolfan Glannau Teifi MS Therapy Centre now known as the Oxygen Therapy Centre Cardigan Ltd. was formed in 1994 to establish an oxygen therapy centre in Cardigan. As a result of tremendous public support and enthusiasm from MS sufferers, their families and friends, by the Summer of 2002 sufficient funds had been raised to open the Therapy Centre in Cardigan. Since then the centre has expanded its activity to provide additional services such as physiotherapy, massage, reflexology and yoga classes.
The Centre aims to be a focus for MS and other diseases that can benefit from oxygen therapy in Cardigan, North Pembrokeshire and North and West Carmarthen and to provide a day centre with all the facilities that are available to help sufferers manage their illness so to lead as normal life as possible. Our national body - Multiple Sclerosis National Therapy Centres, supports any therapy given. The objective of the Centre is to aid and improve the condition of those affected by Multiple Sclerosis, provide support for their family and friends, and other illnesses that benefit from oxygen therapy and to promote a positive approach to coping with these conditions.
The Centre is a community of people with MS and other conditions and is not therefore simply a service provider. People with MS and other conditions become members of the Centre, which enables them to use the Centre services. The overall day-to-day management of the centre is run by the Centre Manager – Mair Rees. All members have equal rights regardless of gender, race, colour, disability or sexual orientation.
All our activities take place in a very relaxed friendly atmosphere and the centre also offers a social side of living with MS, which is very important to our members.
